Hyderabad blooms pink with Pink Trumpet trees

By Vasavi Kaleru

Pink Trumpet trees that were planted almost two decades ago are now in full bloom in Hyderabad. Also, the city’s People’s Plaza and City Centre Mall in Banjara Hills, Secretariat, and Public Gardens are having a cherry blossom effect around them. The beautiful trees can be seen blooming around the path surrounding Saroornagar Lake.

Many city people are making the most of morning and evening walks around the lake to enjoy this sight. People from the city have expressed their pleasure over the refreshing feeling the blossoming flowers are offering. Quite a few urban inhabitants have also posted this beauty on social media.

From the historical aspect, another neotropical tree is the Pink Trumpet tree, Tabebuia rosea, which is a woody plant originated in Southern America, between parts of Argentina through to Mexico. It is not only picturesque but is used in traditional medicines as well, due to its inner bark.

It is a great delight to see the efforts taken by the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority almost two decades ago yielding results now. The blooming Pink Trumpet trees represent the beauty of nature and the significance of conservation for the future.
