In a major step toward inclusive education, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched ‘Project Aarohan’, a scholarship and mentorship initiative for children of toll plaza employees. Introduced at NHAI Headquarters in New Delhi by Chairman Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav, the project is being implemented in collaboration with Vertis Infrastructure Trust and SMEC Trust’s Bharat Cares.
Key Highlights of Project Aarohan
- Scholarships:
- 500 students (Class 11 to graduation) to receive ₹12,000 annually.
- 50 outstanding students in post-graduation/higher studies to get ₹50,000 each.
- Holistic Support:
Mentorship programs, skill-building workshops, career guidance, and entrepreneurship support. - Target Beneficiaries:
Girls, first-generation learners, and students from SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities. - Implementation:
First phase runs from July 2025 to March 2026, with a budget of ₹1 crore.
Broader Vision
The initiative ensures fair, transparent online selection through academic and income records. Beyond financial aid, Project Aarohan reflects NHAI’s vision of building human capital alongside physical infrastructure, empowering marginalized communities and shaping India’s future workforce.
