Gaddam Srinivas Yadav and BC Leaders Call for Stronger Support to Telangana’s Wrestling Community

Hyderabad Wrestling Spirit Gets Official Backing

Hyderabad, August 29:

Traditional sports in Telangana received a major boost today as Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari and Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy assured government support for grassroots wrestling competitions.

The appeal was led by Gaddam Srinivas Yadav, a senior BRS leader from Goshamahal constituency and a multi-faceted figure who has carried community service and sports promotion on his shoulders for decades. He is the Ex-Library Chairman known for encouraging educational access and a former Hyderabad Parliament contestant who has consistently voiced the needs of common people.

He also serves as the Chairman of Akhila Bharata Yadav Mahasabha representing Yadav unity nationwide, the Chairman of Hyderabad Amateur Wrestling Association promoting local talent in the akhadas, the Chairman of Gaddam Gangadhar Yadav Foundation driving social and cultural initiatives, and the Chairman of Haindavi Group of Colleges shaping future generations through education.

Known for organizing Hyderabad’s famed wrestling competitions, Srinivas Yadav urged the state to extend financial and institutional support. He also requested sponsorship for travelling and the allocation of a dedicated office in Hyderabad to strengthen wrestling and traditional sports administration.

Shashank Pasupuleti, Vice President of Telangana BC Youth, supported his call, stressing the need to nurture young wrestlers from rural and urban belts. “If Telangana can rise as an IT hub, it can also become a wrestling hub,” he said.

Responding, Minister Vakiti Srihari assured integration of traditional sports into Telangana’s sports ecosystem, while SAT Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy assured that facilities like Gachibowli Stadium will remain open for such events.

With these assurances, Hyderabad’s wrestling community is hopeful that its decades-old spirit will now receive the recognition and support it deserves.
