UIDAI Launches Aadhaar Mascot ‘Udai’ to Simplify Citizen Communication

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched ‘Udai (उदय)’, the official Aadhaar mascot, to improve public communication and make Aadhaar-related services easier to understand for citizens. Designed as a friendly and relatable companion, Udai aims to bridge the gap between technology and people by presenting Aadhaar information in a simple and engaging manner.

The mascot will help explain key Aadhaar services such as updates and corrections, authentication, offline verification, selective data sharing, and secure usage of Aadhaar, with a special focus on first-time users, senior citizens, and residents in remote areas.

Udai was selected through open national-level design and naming competitions hosted on the MyGov platform, which received 875 entries from participants across India. The initiative reflects UIDAI’s emphasis on transparency, public participation, and citizen-centric governance.

The mascot was officially unveiled by Neelkanth Mishra, Chairman of UIDAI, in Thiruvananthapuram. UIDAI officials noted that Udai symbolises growth, progress, and empowerment, reinforcing Aadhaar’s role in India’s digital governance ecosystem.

For government exam aspirants, this initiative is significant under digital governance, e-governance reforms, and citizen-focused public service delivery.
