Elon Musk’s Twitter blue breakthrough: Verified subscribers can now upload two-hour videos, leaving users in awe

In a momentous development for the Twitter platform, Elon Musk has announced that Twitter Blue Verified subscribers will now enjoy the privilege of uploading videos up to two hours in duration and with a maximum file size of 8 GB.

This remarkable enhancement surpasses the previous constraints faced by non-subscribed users, limited to a mere two minutes and 20 seconds, while doubling the allowance previously granted to Twitter Blue subscribers, which stood at 60 minutes. It is worth noting that the highest video resolution permissible for uploads remains at 1080p, while Musk emphasized that files must not exceed the 8 GB threshold.

The revelation of this extended video upload feature has elicited a fervent response from Twitter users. One user expressed, “Ah, Twitter, once the epitome of conciseness, now witnesses the stretching of our attention spans! Two-hour videos? A prodigious leap from the confines of 280 characters.” The reaction from the Twitter community has proven to be a mix of enthusiasm for the new possibilities and apprehension concerning potential misuse of the feature.

Shortly after the availability of this feature, a Twitter user proceeded to post the entirety of the film Shrek 3. However, this unauthorized act of sharing copyrighted material prompted Twitter to promptly remove the content, citing a copyright infringement report.

The emergence of attempted piracy and violations of copyright has become an enduring concern following the introduction of extended video capabilities on Twitter.

Merely weeks ago, users began uploading copies of the recently released Super Mario Bros. Movie, albeit in segmented one-hour intervals. With the newly bestowed two-hour limit, entire feature films can now be accommodated within a single tweet.

Elon Musk’s decision to broaden the video capabilities on Twitter coincides with his appointment of Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO, signifying his shift towards focusing on product design and novel technologies. Since assuming control of this beloved social media platform, the esteemed tech entrepreneur has been fervently implementing a multitude of modifications. Amongst these transformative endeavors is the introduction of Twitter Blue, a paid verification service that affords users an esteemed blue checkmark on their profiles in exchange for a subscription fee.

The Twitter Blue subscription commences at a price of $8 per month or a yearly sum of $84. In India, mobile users seeking access to Twitter Blue services on both Android and iOS devices must be prepared to remit Rs 900 monthly, while the web subscription plan carries a cost of Rs 650 per month. These novel offerings and features constitute an integral component of Musk’s overarching vision to enrich the Twitter experience and provide users with a more diverse and captivating array of content.
