The Harish Rao-led Telangana health ministry is facing scrutiny over KCR’s deplorable nutrition policy in Prathap Singhramgram.
Prathapsingharam, Telangana: The much-touted nutrition policy of the KCR-led government has been overhauled for failing to provide adequate support to pregnant women in the district. One such heartbreaking case is that of Prathap Singh Ram, a six-month pregnant woman who has been struggling for proper healthcare since April.
Lady visited Prathap Singh Ram Primary Health Center (PHC) and was hoping to get necessary care like TT injections for her pregnancy. To her dismay, she was caught in a bureaucratic nightmare. The promised 13,000 in financial aid for the first child is nowhere to be found, he said. Instead, a meager amount of Rs 3,000 was deposited into his account.
Despite relentless efforts to pursue authorities, the woman faced utter apathy and indifference. Her cries for help went unanswered and she, like many other women in the region, had to face the unfortunate reality of being denied government assistance
The KCR government’s ambitious policies touted as favors for pregnant women are at least in terms of its promises for Prathap Singh Ram. Despite the claim that five nutrition kits are being distributed, many expectant mothers are yet to receive much-needed support.
The situation highlights a disturbing trend where pregnant women are left to fend for themselves and are unable to access the benefits boasted by the Telangana government. The lack of transparency and accountability leaves women feeling neglected in the industry
