Do You Support Drug Users? Is This What Politics Has Become?
The recent party at Janwada farmhouse has sparked a major discussion across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Sanathnagar Congress in-charge, Dr. Kota Neelima, responded to the comments made by BRS leaders about the incident in her distinctive style. She criticised BRS leaders for politicizing the police’s actions when they intervened, based on reports of the party happening without permission.
She questioned the statements made by Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who called it a “family party,” calling it absurd. Dr. Neelima pointed out that even though alcohol bottles and drugs were found, with a positive drug test for one person, efforts were made to divert attention from the incident. She questioned if this was the message public representatives wanted to convey to the people, reminding them that instead of speaking in support of such acts, they should work together to make Greater Hyderabad a drug-free city.
She emphasized that people are watching closely and are aware of whom the BRS leaders are supporting. She stated that while drug and rave parties have reportedly taken place in Greater Hyderabad over the past ten years, no action was taken. Now that the Congress government is taking strict measures, looking for faults in their approach is unjust.
Dr. Kota Neelima asked if this was truly the responsibility of political leaders – to support acts that harm youth through drugs. She urged everyone to come together to end this drug menace beyond political boundaries, expressing disappointment with Talasani’s support for such acts. Dr. Neelima further stated that people are not welcoming the comments made by BRS leaders and requested citizens to hold their representatives accountable.
