Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan: India’s Most Extensive Tribal Empowerment Drive

The Government of India has launched the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan (DAJA) — a month-long campaign from June 15 to July 15, 2025, aimed at empowering over 5.5 crore tribal citizens across 31 States/UTs and more than 1 lakh tribal villages.

Led by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, DAJA focuses on delivering welfare schemes directly to tribal communities, promoting inclusion, and ensuring last-mile service. Named in honour of tribal icon Birsa Munda, the campaign celebrates tribal identity and reaffirms India’s commitment to inclusive development.

Key Achievements (First 9 Days):

 

Reached over 53 lakh tribal people

Organized 22,000+ empowerment camps

Issued 1.38 lakh Aadhaar and 1.68 lakh Ayushman Bharat cards

Registered 46,000 tribal farmers under PM-Kisan

Enrolled 22,000+ women under Ujjwala Yojana

Opened 32,000+ Jan Dhan bank accounts

Core Focus Areas:

Janbhagidari – Promoting active tribal participation

Saturation – Ensuring 100% scheme coverage

Cultural Inclusion – Respecting tribal languages and traditions

Convergence – Coordination between ministries, NGOs, and local bodies

Last-Mile Delivery – Bringing services to remote tribal regions

This campaign is not just about distributing benefits—it’s about recognizing tribal voices, encouraging leadership, and building a more inclusive India.
