India Claims 4 Bronze Medals and 12 Medallions of Excellence at Global Skills Competition

Telangana’s Ashwitha Police Wins Big, Inspires a Nation with her Culinary Mastery

India made a powerful statement on the global stage by securing four Bronze medals and twelve Medallions of Excellence at the prestigious WorldSkills 2024 competition in Lyon, France. Among the standout achievements, Telangana’s own Ashwitha Police emerged as an inspirational figure, winning Bronze in Patisserie and Confectionery and being honored with the Best of Nation Award for her exceptional skills.

Born and raised in Sanga Reddy’s Girmapur village, Ashwitha’s passion for the culinary arts began at a young age. Her dream of mastering the art of sweets transformed into reality through dedication and training under Chef Vinesh Johny. Today, her triumph not only showcases her talent but has also made her a symbol of inspiration for aspiring young chefs, particularly girls, across the country.

Upon returning to Telangana, Ashwitha was greeted with a grand celebration, full of pride and excitement. “This medal is for my parents, my mentors, and my nation. Their unwavering support has been my strength,” she said, dedicating her victory to her family and India. Her success has proven that women are not just confined to traditional roles but can showcase their skills on the world stage, a sentiment echoed in her village, which now proudly calls her “Telangana’s Muddu Bidda” (beloved child).

India’s impressive tally at WorldSkills 2024 included medals in categories like Industry 4.0, Hotel Reception, and Renewable Energy, with competitors from across the nation shining in areas such as Mechatronics, Web Technology, and Cabinet Making.
