FSSAI Launches Dedicated Licensing for Ayurveda Aahara

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has launched a dedicated licensing and registration window for Ayurveda Aahara products on its FoSCoS portal, in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush. This initiative aims to standardize traditional Ayurvedic foods under modern food safety norms, integrating India’s ancient dietary wisdom with scientific regulation and commercialization.

What is Ayurveda Aahara?
Ayurveda Aahara refers to traditional Ayurvedic foods formulated according to ancient texts, designed for personalized nutrition and integration with Ayurvedic treatments.

Key Features of the Regulation:

  • New Kind of Business (KoB) classification for Ayurveda Aahara manufacturers.
  • 91 pre-approved traditional recipes based on ancient texts.
  • Integration of QR codes for consumer information and grievance redressal.
  • Collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush to maintain authenticity while ensuring compliance.
