Green Mission Without Borders: ECG Foundation Turns a US Plantation Drive Into a Global Environmental Message

By Special Correspondent

Hyderabad, August 18: The Environmentally Conscious Globalisation (ECG) Foundation, one of Telangana’s leading environmental organizations, has extended its green mission beyond India through a plantation initiative organized in the United States by one of its core members.

With more than two crore saplings planted across Telangana and several parts of India, the Foundation continues to promote its vision of “Green Globalisation for a Better and Healthy Nation.” Under the guidance of renowned paediatrician, environmentalist, and tree conservationist Dr. Markandeyulu, the movement has brought together environmentalists, educators, students, social workers, and nature enthusiasts.

The latest initiative was led by Sudhershan, an ECG Core Member, former Principal of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), and a President Awardee, who organized a plantation drive during his visit to the United States.

The programme was attended by his wife, Hemalatha, daughters Tejaswini and Manaswini, son-in-law Ramakrishna, and grandchildren Vivaan and Anika. The active participation of children in the programme highlighted the importance of introducing environmental awareness at an early age.

Appreciating the initiative, Dr. Markandeyulu described the plantation drive as a reflection of ECG’s global environmental vision. He said that whenever an ECG member travels to another part of the world, the organization’s environmental philosophy travels with them.

He emphasized that environmental education should extend beyond academic institutions and become an integral part of family life. He particularly appreciated the involvement of the younger generation, stating that today’s children would become tomorrow’s custodians of the planet.

Dr. Markandeyulu also revealed that the Foundation is exploring international collaborations, including initiatives in the United Kingdom, to promote biodiversity conservation and environmental sustainability on a global scale.

Dr. Venkat Nomula, an ECG member, welcomed the initiative and said that the programme demonstrated how environmental values could transcend geographical boundaries.

ECG Foundation member Shashank said that the organization’s environmental philosophy has evolved into a people’s movement that encourages individuals and communities to take responsibility for protecting nature. He noted that tree plantation should not be viewed as a one-time activity but as a long-term commitment toward preserving ecological balance and ensuring a healthier future for coming generations.

The plantation drive in the United States represents another significant milestone in ECG Foundation’s efforts to expand its environmental mission beyond Telangana and India. The initiative reinforced the Foundation’s guiding principle that environmental conservation begins at the individual and family levels but ultimately contributes to a broader global movement.

The message of the Foundation continues to resonate across borders:

“Think Globally – Act Ecologically.”
