The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) in Hyderabad marked the 19th anniversary of the 2004 Tsunami. Mandated to offer marine offerings to a variety of end-users consisting of disaster management, civil society, industry and medical communities INCOIS demonstrated a commitment to behavior focused studies and ongoing marine monitoring through projects diversification together with catastrophe warnings and environment offerings Star Zone (PFZ) ) Consultant, Coral bleaching alerts, algal blooms, and ocean warmness waves, INCOIS presents data from state-of-the-art technology, space engineering, ocean modeling, and in situ monitoring are used.
As a part of its 25th anniversary travelling birthday celebration, which ended on February 3, 2024, INCOIS welcomed round 500 college students from numerous faculties and colleges, in addition to round 150 individuals of the overall public.
The Open House Program protected a comprehensive excursion for traffic, providing stops at the Auditorium, where they viewed INCOIS films and IISF activities. The tour continued to the Tsunami Early Warning Centre and the Operational Ocean Services Lab, imparting a completely unique possibility for attendees to discover the realm of oceanography. They witnessed one of the world’s main tsunami warning facilities and received understanding about INCOIS’s modern-day research whilst understanding the oceans’ critical function in day by day lives. Throughout the Open Day, site visitors engaged with INCOIS scientists and researchers.
Scientific talks, a key factor of the occasion, were introduced through eminent Scientists on 26 December 2023. Dr. Vineet Kumar Gahalaut, Chief Scientist on the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) and previous Director of the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), addressed the target market on the ‘Utilization of GNSS facts for Earthquakes and Tsunamis.’ Additionally, Dr. S.S. C. Shenoi, Vice President of Vijnanabharati (VIBHA) and Former Director of INCOIS, provided an outline of IISF 2023 to decorate attention about the festival.
INCOIS continues to play a pivotal function in advancing ocean technological know-how and imparting important offerings for the gain of society and the environment.
