In a significant humanitarian gesture, India has shipped 73 tonnes of essential medicines, vaccines, and nutritional supplements to Kabul, reinforcing its commitment to supporting Afghanistan’s healthcare system. The consignment, announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), aims to address urgent medical needs amid ongoing challenges in the region.
India’s aid package includes life-saving medicines for critical health conditions, vaccines for immunisation campaigns, and supplements to combat malnutrition. This marks one of the largest recent medical shipments from India to Afghanistan.
The initiative reflects India’s long-standing humanitarian engagement with Afghanistan, spanning infrastructure, education, energy, and healthcare support. Since 2021, India has intensified aid efforts, providing wheat, COVID vaccines, and training programmes for Afghan students and professionals.
The 73-tonne shipment highlights India’s humanitarian outreach, regional diplomacy, and people-to-people ties, strengthening goodwill and trust with the Afghan population.
