India–Egypt Joint Drill: Exercise Cyclone 2026 Strengthens Defence Ties

The Indian Army has deployed a special forces contingent to Egypt for the fourth edition of Exercise Cyclone, a joint military drill aimed at strengthening bilateral defence cooperation. The exercise is being held in Anshas and reflects the growing strategic partnership between the two nations.

Exercise Cyclone is an annual event conducted alternately by India and Egypt, focusing on elite special forces operations. The 2026 edition brings together highly trained personnel to simulate real-world combat scenarios, particularly in desert and semi-desert environments.

The Indian contingent, comprising around 25 specialised troops, is participating in rigorous joint training alongside Egyptian forces. The drills are designed to enhance coordination, improve tactical skills, and build interoperability between the two militaries.

Beyond operational training, the exercise plays a key role in fostering mutual trust and exchanging best practices in modern warfare. It also strengthens defence ties and deepens strategic engagement between India and Egypt.

Overall, Exercise Cyclone highlights India’s commitment to global defence cooperation while enhancing the readiness and capabilities of its special forces.
