India and Israel have strengthened their agricultural partnership with a landmark agreement to manufacture and commercialise pheromone-based crop protection technologies. Announced at the valedictory session of the First International Science & Technology Clusters Conference in New Delhi, the initiative marks a major step in sustainable farming innovation.
ATGC Biotech Pvt. Ltd. (India) and Luxembourg Industries Ltd. (Israel) have established a 50-50 joint venture named Semiophore Ltd., marking the first time Indian semiochemical technologies will be produced in Israel. The collaboration aims to take 18 advanced Indian pheromone-based crop protection solutions—including ultra-low-dose dispensers and mating disruption systems—to global markets such as Israel, Brazil, and the United States.
These technologies are designed to reduce insecticide use by over 80%, offering farmers safer, environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional chemical pesticides. Senior officials including India’s Principal Scientific Adviser Ajay Kumar Sood and Israel’s Deputy Chief of Mission Fares Saeb highlighted the agreement as a milestone for food security, climate-resilient agriculture, and technology-driven farming solutions.
The joint venture also strengthens innovation networks built through Indo-Israel agricultural programmes and Centres of Excellence, paving the way for expanded research and globally scalable sustainable farming solutions.
