India has earned global recognition for its culinary richness, with six Indian cities making it to the prestigious TasteAtlas 2024–25 “100 Best Food Cities in the World” list. Mumbai leads the Indian contingent with a remarkable 5th place globally, followed by Amritsar (43rd), New Delhi (45th), Hyderabad (50th), Kolkata (71st), and Chennai (75th).

This recognition highlights India’s incredible diversity of regional cuisines—from Amritsar’s Kulcha to Delhi’s Butter Chicken, Hyderabad’s Biryani to Chennai’s Dosa. Mumbai’s street food icons like Vada Pav, Pav Bhaji, Bhel Puri, and Ragda Patties were especially noted, along with eateries like Ram Ashraya and Shree Thaker Bhojanalay.

TasteAtlas, a food and travel guide, compiled the rankings using data from user ratings, food critics, and research. The achievement strengthens India’s image as a top culinary tourism destination, attracting food lovers globally to explore its flavors and traditions.
