On 15 August 2025, in a historic first, the Indian Tricolour was hoisted atop Seattle’s iconic 605-feet Space Needle to mark India’s 79th Independence Day. The landmark, illuminated in saffron, white, and green, became a symbol of India’s growing global presence and the strength of India-US relations.

Hosted by the Consulate General of India in Seattle, the event was attended by Consul General Prakash Gupta, Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, city officials, and members of the Indian-American community.

The gesture not only celebrated India’s independence but also showcased the recognition of the Indian diaspora’s contributions to technology, education, and public service in the United States. It highlighted India’s rising soft power and the spirit of multiculturalism, strengthening bonds of friendship and goodwill between the two nations.
