IndiaAI Launches ₹2.5 Crore Face Authentication Challenge to Curb Exam Fraud

In a major step toward ensuring fairness and transparency in India’s public examinations, IndiaAI under the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) has launched the Face Authentication Challenge 2025. The initiative invites startups and tech firms to build secure AI-powered facial verification systems to prevent duplicate and fraudulent exam applications.

The challenge, open till October 25, 2025, offers a ₹2.5 crore prize pool. Ten shortlisted teams will receive ₹5 lakhs each for prototype testing, while up to two winners may earn ₹1 crore and a two-year deployment contract.

Part of the IndiaAI Application Development Initiative (IADI), the challenge aims to revolutionize identity verification across sectors like education, recruitment, and welfare distribution. By promoting AI-based de-duplication and one-to-many facial matching, IndiaAI seeks to enhance exam security and uphold merit-based recruitment integrity.
