In a groundbreaking initiative under the Smart Cities Mission, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) has launched the Digital House Address Project, becoming the first city in India to adopt QR-coded, GPS-enabled digital address plates.
The project debuted in Ward 82 of Sudama Nagar and is integrated with the national Digipin system. Each household receives a metal plate with a unique QR code linked to precise GPS coordinates, enabling accurate property identification and faster delivery of civic services.

Key Benefits:
- Efficient civic service delivery and emergency response
- Digital access to pay taxes, lodge complaints, and view property details
- Better urban planning with accurate real-time data
- Support for e-commerce and logistics in areas with unstructured addresses
This initiative marks a major step in digitising governance and improving urban administration, setting a model for other Indian cities, including New Delhi, which is planning a similar rollout.
