INS Tamal: India’s New Stealth Frigate Strengthens Naval Power

In a major boost to India’s maritime defense capabilities, the Indian Navy has launched INS Tamal, an advanced guided-missile stealth frigate constructed in Russia. The warship was launched on July 1, 2025, at the Yantar Shipyard in Kaliningrad, under India’s long-standing defense cooperation with Russia. The ship is part of the Project 11356 (Advanced Krivak III class) and marks the first of two frigates being built for the Indian Navy under this program.

Designed to enhance operational readiness in high-threat environments, INS Tamal is equipped with sophisticated weaponry, stealth features, and long-range capabilities.
