From Civil Services Dreams to Nation-Building Business —The Story of IRA Innovations
Ananthapuramu, Andhra Pradesh:
In the quiet town of Ananthapuramu, five determined minds once used to sit in New Delhi surrounded by UPSC books, late-night chai cups and dreams of serving the nation. Today, on the historic day of 15th August, those same minds — SR Prathap, SK Sonia, Raj PN, Arun & Dhoni — are launching IRA Innovations, a premium soft napkin tissue brand that blends business excellence with a deep social mission.
All are former UPSC aspirants united by a common vision to contribute to India’s progress. Though their careers took them away from bureaucratic roles, they channelled their discipline, strategic thinking and nation-first mindset into building a company that stands for quality, sustainability and service.
Tissues with a Purpose
IRA Innovations is not just about selling tissues; it is about delivering dignity and care. The company has pledged to supply products at cost price to foundations and organizations working for underprivileged communities — ensuring hygiene and comfort reach even the most neglected corners of society.
Soniya, apart from her UPSC background, is a multi-talented artist, craftsperson and gallery curator. “I can be more when I serve my country. When my skills are used towards the nation, that is my real success,” she says.
Arun & Dhoni bring sharp analytical skills and operational discipline, honed through years of UPSC preparation. “The UPSC journey teaches patience and precision — exactly what’s needed to build a sustainable business,” they note.
SR Prathap & Raj PN, with their strong people skills, wide world exposure and community outreach experience, ensure IRA Innovations builds relationships that go beyond business. “For us, business is not separate from service; they go hand in hand,” they explain.
Empowering India, One Roll at a Time
A firm believer in women empowerment and the Make in India movement, Soniya sees IRA Innovations as a platform that uplifts others. The company offers a wide range of products — toilet roll tissues, facial tissues, kitchen towels, jumbo rolls, pocket tissues, napkins in table, dinner, cocktail and luncheon sizes — all produced in their state-of-the-art facility with a capacity of over 10 lakh packets per month.
Launching on Independence Day, IRA Innovations stands as a testament to the idea that patriotism can also be lived through entrepreneurship — by building, creating, and serving the nation every single day.
