Jiyo Parsi Scheme Gets Fresh Push with Universal Registration Drive

The Jiyo Parsi Scheme has come into focus again following the successful Universal Parsi Registration Drive facilitation camp conducted by the Ministry of Minority Affairs. Around 300 new registrations on the Jiyo Parsi portal signal renewed momentum in efforts to address the declining population of the Parsi community in India.

Launched in 2013–14, the Jiyo Parsi Scheme is a Central Sector initiative aimed at arresting and reversing the steady demographic decline of Parsis through scientific, medical, and social interventions. The programme supports fertility treatments, pregnancy care, childcare assistance, and elderly care, while also promoting awareness and counselling to overcome social and psychological barriers to family growth.

Implementation is carried out in collaboration with State Governments and recognised Parsi institutions. Financial assistance is transferred directly to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring transparency and accountability, with verification conducted by state authorities.

The recent registration drive highlights the importance of data-driven outreach and community engagement. By expanding its beneficiary base, the scheme strengthens targeted policy interventions and reinforces the government’s commitment to preserving the demographic and cultural identity of one of India’s smallest minority communities.
