On Thursday, Y.S. Sharmila, the leader of the YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP), claimed that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had crushed the hopes and aspirations of the state’s unemployed youth.
According to Sharmila, the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) exam paper leaks incident is just the beginning. She claimed that despite claiming to have created a pitiful 65,000 jobs during its first term, the “inefficient and autocratic” government failed to create a single job during its second term.
“The Chief Minister had vowed to fill 80,000 positions by notifications, and this was on March 9 last year on the floor of the Legislature. Although the notification is only for 26,000 positions, a year has gone. Even their fate hangs in the balance after the paper leakage case. In other words, more than 10 lakh candidates have been duped, and with the election notification slated to go into force in only six months, it is now impossible to fill the vacancies “Sharmila claimed.
When the Biswal Committee stated that there were 1.91 lakh vacancies to be filled, she referred to it as a flagrant instance of dishonesty and cruelty. Altogether, the Chief Minister has shattered the ambitions and careers of almost 50 lakh job hopefuls in Telangana. In 2015, he had promised to generate 1 lakh employment but after four years, the stats stood at barely 65,000.
“With the establishment of additional districts, the labour requirement was put at 3 lakh, but nothing has moved in a constructive direction save for the cosmetic treatment where administrative buildings were created and launched with enormous fanfare,” she said.
She asked the BRS government to take urgent action by issuing a notification to fill 1.91 lakh vacancies in accordance with the recommendations of the Biswal Committee at the very least immediately. “Not only that, but the hiring process ought to be given top priority. We also demand the state government to order a CBI enquiry into the TSPSC paper leak scandal. No one should escape punishment if found guilty, not even ministers or MLAs. YSRTP on its side would continue to work vigorously on this issue, and also stand for the unemployed youth of Telangana,” she concludes.
