Online conference  on the topic of “The Role of ICT in Education at NEP 2020”

We view a lot of our world through the lens of technology. s. Eminent education experts discussed the “Role of ICT in Education at NEP 2020” at the virtual Hyderabad Today conclave.

The distinguished panellists of the conference were Dr. Pawan Sudhir, Professor and Head -Department of Education in Arts and Aesthetics, NCERT, Delhi, Lalith Prasad, Regional Manager, South Asia, Cambridge, Dr. G K Viswanadh, Sr. Professor and Director UGC – HRDC, Ms. Manju Balasubraniam, Principal and Educationist, DPS North Bengaluru, Dr. G Sri Krishna, Clinical Psychologist, Faculty in NMH. A hearty welcome was given by Mrs Sunitha Rao, Senior Principal, DPS Nacharam, and Deputy Director R&R Center extended a warm welcome to the panelists and introduced them to the audience.

Pawan Sudhir stated that ICT facilitates collaborative teaching by pooling resources and provides beautiful learning experiences during the session’s opening discussion on art integration as a pedagogy of joyful and quality learning.

Manju Balasubramaniam spoke about how schools might use ICT to create enduring online communities, and Lalith Prasad offered his thoughts on preparing teachers to be content creators. While Prof. GK Viswanadh spoke about the application of AI and machine learning for individualised training, Dr. G Sri Krishna spoke about the ways that digital platforms can be used as useful tools for kids with special needs.

The panellists discussed the issues that technology will provide as well as its potential role in education and nation-building. All of the presenters agreed that ICT will fundamentally alter the way that students are taught and learned, but they also agreed that regular oversight and capacity building would assist to avoid the younger generation from becoming victims of its excessive use. An engaging Q&A session with questions from the audience closed the thought-provoking discussion that was brilliantly led by Sunitha Rao.
