Indian Army Launches Operation SHIVA 2025 to Secure Amarnath Yatra

In a decisive move to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the Shri Amarnath Yatra, the Indian Army has launched Operation SHIVA 2025 in Jammu and Kashmir. With rising security concerns and threats from Pakistan-backed terror outfits, the operation showcases a high level of preparedness, coordination, and commitment to protect pilgrims during the annual pilgrimage.

Massive Deployment and Surveillance

More than 8,500 troops have been deployed along both the northern and southern routes of the Yatra. The Army, in collaboration with the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and local administration, has implemented a multi-layered counter-terror grid.

To combat potential aerial threats, the Army has activated over 50 counter-drone systems (C-UAS), along with continuous UAV surveillance, high-resolution PTZ cameras, and live drone feeds to track movements and detect threats early. Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) have also been stationed for rapid emergency response.

Comprehensive Medical and Disaster Support

Operation SHIVA 2025 prioritizes pilgrim well-being with robust medical and infrastructure support:

  • 150+ medical staff, 2 advanced dressing stations, and 9 aid posts.
  • A 100-bed field hospital with 26 oxygen booths and 2 lakh litres of oxygen storage.
  • Helicopter services are on standby for emergency evacuations.
  • Signal companies are ensuring uninterrupted communication, while bomb detection squads remain vigilant.

Infrastructure and Emergency Preparedness

Engineering teams are actively involved in repairing roads, constructing temporary bridges, and setting up emergency shelters and food supplies for 25,000 people. Tent cities, water points, and logistical support are in place to ensure a comfortable journey for devotees.

A Mission of Peace and Protection

The Army emphasized that Operation SHIVA 2025 reflects its unwavering commitment to safeguarding this sacred event. With rising threats in the Kashmir Valley and past encounters with proxy terror groups, this operation is not only a security mission but also a step towards preserving peace and religious harmony.
