Karimnagar’s Peacock Restaurant Steps onto the Global Stage with Riyadh Launch
Riyadh, Aug. 8, 2025 — A culinary brand born in Karimnagar, Peacock Restaurant, has crossed international borders by opening its first overseas outlet in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. Known for its signature Hyderabadi biryani, flavour-rich kebabs, and a wide selection of tandoori dishes, the restaurant now aims to bring Telangana’s distinctive tastes to a new audience in the Gulf.
The branch was formally inaugurated in Al-Malaz, with Indian Ambassador Dr. Suhel Khan leading the ceremony. The event saw enthusiastic participation from both the Indian community and Saudi guests. Among the special attendees was Yusuf Maskati, a member of Hyderabad’s Nawab lineage, who expressed delight at the expansion. Maskati noted that the essence of Hyderabadi cuisine, which Peacock has preserved for decades, would now be savoured in Riyadh. He described it as an honour to be present at the launch and witness this milestone for the brand.
According to Managing Director Mohammed Asghar Ali, the decision to establish a presence in Riyadh came after recognising both the growing appreciation for Indian flavours in Saudi Arabia and the nostalgia among expatriates for authentic Hyderabadi food.
Peacock Restaurant began its journey in 1996, founded by the late Mohammed Akthar Ali, and has since built a reputation for consistent quality and traditional cooking methods. The Riyadh outlet features a dining hall that can host around 100 people and a separate banquet space accommodating up to 120 guests, designed to cater to everyday meals as well as private celebrations.
The menu spans classic Indian favourites, Indo-Chinese options, continental fare, and a variety of sweets and snacks. While adapting to diverse palates, the restaurant remains committed to keeping the depth of flavour and heritage that define Deccani cuisine.
With its debut in Riyadh, Peacock Restaurant is not only serving food but also building a cultural bridge — one that connects the warmth of Telangana’s kitchens to the heart of Saudi Arabia.
