Prime Minister Modi began carefully planning activities, including jeep and elephant safaris, to enable him to traverse the vast expanse of Kaziranga during his visit. Also, the Prime Minister’s journey continued beyond Kaziranga. He attended events celebrating the 50th anniversary of designation of the park as a national park in Jorhat, unveiled the statue of Assam’s legend Lachit Barphukan and publicly announced the address of the meeting promoting social and historical interests of Assam.
The visit also coincided with the announcement and presentation of various development projects in the region, highlighting the government’s multi-faceted efforts to promote the development of Assam while preserving its natural heritage. These projects are expected to include infrastructure development and local cultural support and provide long-term benefits to the state’s economy and society.
The visit not only put Kaziranga on the international map but also highlighted the Indian government’s commitment to the environment, preserving historical legacies, and fostering regional development in the Northeast environment, heritage conservation and overall development of the Northeast region.
