Hyderabad: In what can be categorised as a severe security issue, a bomb threat call was received at the Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan on Tuesday, May 28, in Hyderabad. This has prompted the city police and other teams to carry out elaborate search operations on the premises.
The big white house, now used by the Telangana deputy leader Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, was once called Pragathi Bhavan. He is a tall leader in the State politics for a long time in Congress now.
On December 7, 2023, Revanth Reddy became the Chief Minister of Telangana. On which day, he changed the name of Pragathi Bhavan as Praja Bhavan, which means “people’s building”.
Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development and Women and Child Welfare D Anasuya, popularly known as Seethakka, visited Praja Bhavan, and met with the officials and also the family members of the Deputy CM and discussed the matter.
The minister instructed the officials to thoroughly check the visitors and to also step up security at Praja Bhavan, an official statement said.
This comes hours after a Varanasi-bound IndiGo flight received a bomb threat at the Delhi airport on Tuesday morning but a search of the aircraft found it to be a hoax.
The bomb scare prompted authorities to evacuate all the staff and 176 passengers onboard and launch a search operation, they said.
The passengers will be flown to Varanasi in another plane, which is expected to take off at 11 am, an IndiGo spokesperson said in a statement.
