Hundreds of Ganesh idols receive ceremonial welcome; dignitaries, traders, community leaders and police join overnight Visarjan programme
Secunderabad: Karbala Maidan at Ranigunj turned into a vibrant centre of devotion during the Ganesh Visarjan as hundreds of Ganesh idols were ceremonially welcomed by the Secunderabad Ganesh Mahotsav Samithi, continuing a tradition that dates back to 1980.
As immersion processions moved through the key Secunderabad route, the Samithi’s welcome dais remained active through the night, with Ganesh idols being received with flower garlands and honours, while organisers of various Ganesh mandals were felicitated. Devotional music and Lord Ganesh bhajans continued from the evening until around 6 a.m., adding to the festive atmosphere at Karbala Maidan.
A legacy dating back to 1980
Established in 1980 by Late Seelam Ramdas Sanathnagar Ex MLA, , the Secunderabad Ganesh Mahotsav Samithi built a tradition of serving devotees and welcoming Ganesh processions during the annual immersion celebrations. The legacy was subsequently carried forward by Late Seelam Prabhakar Ex Corporator TPCC Secretary, former President of the Samithi.
The organisation is presently led by Seelam Anurag, President and , with Shashank Pasupuleti as General Secretary, who coordinated the Samithi’s Visarjan welcome programme along with its patrons, advisors, members and volunteers.
Dignitaries join celebrations
The celebrations brought together public representatives, former elected representatives, business leaders and prominent personalities from Secunderabad and surrounding areas.
Dr. G. Chinna Reddy, former Minister and former Wanaparthy MLA, was among the prominent dignitaries who attended the programme. He was joined by A. Mallikarjun Goud, former Corporator and member of the Samithi’s Advisor Committee.
The programme also saw the presence of Ammanabolu Prakash, President of the Secunderabad Cloth Merchants Association and associated with the T.S. Federation of Textile Association, and Cheera Satyanarayana (Srikanth), General Secretary of the Secunderabad Cloth Merchants Association, State BJP leader BN.Srinivas, DMSS Member Haribabu yadav, Sidhulu, vasundhar mohan,and Aryasamaj member’s
Among the Samithi’s patrons and prominent business and community representatives present were Dhiraj Agarwal of Renu Steel & Tubes; Chamakura Rohith Manchala Nageswar Rao of Chamundi Constructions; and Jonnada Manik of Bhavani Crackers. Samala Vinod,Chamakura Rohith; a member of the Samithi’s Advisor Committee, also participated in the programme.
Local public representatives and leaders attending the celebrations included Kontham Deepika Naresh, Monda Market Corporator; Kiranmayi Kishore, former Ramgopalpet Corporator; Rameshwar Goud, BRS youth leader; and Bandimet Nagulu ,simha bhoopal.
Police personnel felicitated & Senior journalist
The Samithi also acknowledged the role of the police personnel deployed for Ganesh Visarjan duties. Police personnel & Journalists participated in the programme and were felicitated at the welcome dais in recognition of their service, coordination and efforts during the immersion proceedings.
With processions arriving one after another, bhajans continuing until dawn and Ganesh mandal organisers being honoured, the programme brought together devotion, community service and Secunderabad’s long-established Ganesh traditions at one of the crucial points on the immersion route.
For the Secunderabad Ganesh Mahotsav Samithi, this year’s programme marked another chapter in a 46-year journey that began with Late Seelam Ramdas in 1980, was carried forward by Late Seelam Prabhakar and today continues under a new generation of leadership.
From welcoming hundreds of Ganesh idols to honouring organisers and acknowledging police personnel, the Karbala Maidan dais once again stood as a focal point of the Samithi’s enduring Visarjan tradition in Secunderabad.
