But it managed to grab the attention of Tamils because the story has the identity of Tamil culture, history and much more. It collected Rs 500 crore at the box office although it was a flop. Mani Ratnam might have made Tamils proud but he failed in bringing the story to universal audiences.
Now, the second part of PS-2 is all set to release in theatres on April 28. But there are no takers in the Telugu States. It already made pre-release business in Tamil Nadu, but the situation is quite grim in Telugu States. No distributor/buyer is keen on taking up the rights of the movie. Interestingly, Dil Raju, who burnt his hands with the first part, too is not interested to buy it.
Mani Ratnam, who is praised and hailed as a master filmmaker in Telugu, would not have dreamt that he would face such a situation here.
