Adilabad: In a significant development highlighting both legacy efforts and future planning, retired Horticulture Department Commissioner Dr. Venkataram Reddy was recalled for his crucial role in sustaining water resources in Adilabad during the severe scarcity of 1992. At a time when the town faced acute water shortages, he ensured water availability by facilitating connections from the Housing Board department, including the drilling of a borewell and another bore at the backside of the Collectorate.
Today, as part of renewed development initiatives, Gandhian Park is set to be upgraded by incorporating his valuable suggestions, reflecting a blend of past experience and present vision.
Renowned environmentalist Dr. Markandeyulu, popularly known as “Vrukshajeevi,” led a key meeting with Rajarshi Shah, IAS, District Collector & Magistrate of Adilabad, to discuss sustainable development initiatives in the district. He was accompanied by TPCC Legal Cell Coordinator Shashank Pasupuleti, who actively participated in the discussions on public welfare and development priorities.
Dr. Markandeyulu attended the meeting as the chief guest and presented valuable suggestions on environmental conservation and eco-friendly urban development. A major highlight of the interaction was the proposed development of Gandhian Park, where the district administration positively received his recommendations aimed at transforming the park into a green, sustainable, and community-centric space.
TPCC Legal Cell Coordinator Shashank Pasupuleti also put forward key suggestions focusing on public accessibility, community engagement, and long-term maintenance of the park. Being associated with the Indian National Congress, he assured full support in facilitating coordination between stakeholders and extending necessary assistance for the successful execution of the project. He emphasized the importance of developing Gandhian Park as a model eco-space that benefits both the environment and the public.
Collector Rajarshi Shah appreciated the inputs shared during the meeting and assured that the government would take these suggestions into consideration while planning the park’s development. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to transparency, sustainability, and people-centric governance.
The meeting was attended by several officials and stakeholders, including C.V.N. Raju (PD, MEMPA), Narasaiah (DHO), J. Srinivas (Sports Officer), Sri Goverdhan Yadav and his team of former union leaders, along with Prashant Kumar, Park Tenderer, and staff of Gandhian Park.
The interaction reflects a constructive collaboration between experienced experts, public representatives, and district administration, paving the way for a greener and more progressive Adilabad.
