Tesla has officially arrived in India with the grand opening of its first showroom on July 15, 2025, at Jio World Drive, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. This milestone marks a significant entry into the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market, showcasing Elon Musk’s long-awaited vision for the country.
Unlike traditional dealerships, the new showroom serves as an experience centre, where customers can explore Tesla’s innovative design, advanced features, and eco-conscious engineering. The Tesla Model Y (Rear-Wheel Drive), the brand’s debut offering in India, has already landed at Mumbai Port from China. Priced at approximately ₹21 lakh (excluding taxes and duties), it sets the stage for a premium EV revolution.
Tesla isn’t stopping here. Plans are already in place to open showrooms in Delhi and Bengaluru and establish a dedicated warehouse and service infrastructure in Karnataka. This comes after years of dialogue between Elon Musk and the Indian government, including personal meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
With India’s EV sector projected to grow exponentially, Tesla’s launch couldn’t have come at a better time. The future of mobility in India just got a powerful electric jolt.
