Typhoon Matmo Triggers Mass Evacuations in Southern China

The storm brought 10–12 inches of rain, sparking flash flood and landslide warnings. Emergency shelters were set up, and relief teams provided essential aid. Flights and trains were suspended, highlighting the region’s vulnerability to extreme weather.
As Matmo moved inland toward Guangxi, it weakened but continued to bring heavy rains and flooding threats, prompting calls for stronger disaster preparedness and resilient infrastructure.
