UIDAI Waives Aadhaar Biometric Update Fees for Children Aged 7–15 Years
In a major step toward making public services more accessible, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has announced a one-year waiver on all fees for Mandatory Biometric Updates (MBUs) for children aged 7 to 15 years. The decision, effective from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2026, is expected to benefit nearly 6 crore children nationwide.
Aadhaar biometric updates are crucial for children as they grow, ensuring accurate identity verification through fingerprints, iris scans, and updated photographs. Previously, a fee of ₹125 was charged if the updates were delayed beyond the prescribed age window.
With this waiver, parents and guardians can now update their child’s Aadhaar biometrics free of cost at any Aadhaar Seva Kendra or authorized enrolment centre. The move is part of UIDAI’s broader effort to simplify access to Aadhaar-linked services and ensure every child has a valid, up-to-date digital identity.
