India Unveils Vikram-I Rocket as PM Modi Opens Skyroot’s Infinity Campus in Hyderabad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Skyroot Aerospace’s state-of-the-art Infinity Campus in Hyderabad, where he also unveiled Vikram-I, India’s first privately developed commercial orbital rocket. The event marks a historic leap for India’s private space sector, showcasing the country’s growing capability in global satellite launch services.

Vikram-I is designed to carry small satellites into low Earth orbit, shifting Skyroot from sub-orbital testing to full-scale commercial launches. This advancement positions India as a competitive player in the booming global space economy.

The massive 200,000 sq. ft Infinity Campus is equipped for designing, integrating and testing multiple launch vehicles, with the manufacturing capacity of one orbital rocket per month — accelerating the nation’s access to affordable and rapid launch services.

PM Modi emphasized the government’s supportive reforms, including IN-SPACe and increased access to ISRO infrastructure, which have enabled the rise of over 300 space-tech startups. This milestone strengthens India’s bid to become a world leader in space innovation and commercial launches.
