World Day for International Justice 2025: A Stand Against Global Impunity

Observed every year on 17 July, the World Day for International Justice commemorates the adoption of the Rome Statute in 1998, which led to the creation of the International Criminal Court (ICC). This day reaffirms the global commitment to end impunity for the gravest crimes like genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity.

The ICC, based in The Hague, stands as the world’s first permanent court to prosecute such offenses. Since its declaration in 2010 during the Kampala Review Conference, the day has served to educate, advocate, and promote cooperation among nations for justice and rule of law.

In 2025, as global conflicts intensify, the observance calls attention to the urgent need for strong international justice systems. Activities include survivor stories, mock trials, educational events, and global social media campaigns under hashtags like #JusticeDay2025.
