TPCC SC Department Holds ‘Chalo Raj Bhavan’ Protest, Condemns Action Against Jantar Mantar Demonstrators

Hyderabad, July 23, 2026: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) SC Department on Thursday strongly criticized the police action against students protesting at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and expressed solidarity with the Congress national leadership over the alleged detention of senior party leaders.

Ina statement, the TPCC SC Department alleged that the police crackdown on peaceful student protesters and the detention of Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition Shri Rahul Gandhi, Congress General Secretary Smt. Priyanka Gandhi, and AICC SC Department National Chairman Shri Rajendra Pal Gautam were undemocratic and an attempt to suppress democratic dissent. The department stated that students have the constitutional right to seek accountability and raise issues concerning their future.

Responding to the “Chalo Raj Bhavan” call given by TPCC President Shri Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud and TPCC SC Department Chairman and Manakondur MLA Dr. Kavvampally Satyanarayana, Congress leaders and workers organized a protest in Hyderabad condemning the incident and expressing support for the students and the party’s national leadership.

The protest was led by Naren Raja Anerali, State Vice Chairman and Secunderabad Parliament Incharge of the TPCC SC Department, along with Secunderabad District SC Department Chairman Dasari Shyam Sundar. Several party leaders, including Vivek, Ram, Venkatesh, and Rajshekar, besides SC Department functionaries and Congress workers, participated in the demonstration.

Speakingon the occasion, the leaders reiterated that raising questions and demanding accountability are fundamental democratic rights guaranteed under the Constitution. They alleged that the action against students and opposition leaders reflected an attempt to stifle dissent and intimidate those voicing public concerns.

The TPCC SC Department affirmed that the Congress party would continue its democratic struggle in support of students, youth, and constitutional values, and would oppose what it described as authoritarian actions through peaceful protests.
