The National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development has been renamed the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development, in honor of the legendary social reformer. This reflects a renewed commitment to the welfare of women and children across India.
A new Regional Centre will be inaugurated in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on 4 July 2025, catering to the Eastern states—Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal. It will support flagship missions like Mission Shakti, Mission Vatsalya, and Poshan 2.0, bringing localized training and research closer to over 7 lakh frontline workers across 115 districts.
The Ranchi Centre will also offer the Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling, enhancing skill development and capacity building. This step strengthens the government’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047, ensuring inclusive, region-specific development for women and children.
