From the 2026-27 academic year, CBSE Class 10 students can take board exams twice. The first exam in February is mandatory. If students pass, they can reappear for up to three subjects in May to improve their marks. The best score will be counted.
This move, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, aims to reduce exam pressure and offer more flexibility. Students failing in 1–2 subjects can reattempt in May, while those failing in 3 or more must repeat the year.
The new system also supports students from remote areas and sports backgrounds, making board exams more student-friendly.
