Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme Expanded Across India

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) in September 2025, aimed at easing immigration for pre-verified Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders.

Initially introduced in July 2024 at Delhi’s IGI Airport, the programme now covers 12 major airports, including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirappalli, Kozhikode, and Amritsar. It is set to expand to 21 airports, including upcoming hubs like Navi Mumbai and Jewar.

Key Features:

  • 30-second clearance at e-Gates using biometric verification.
  • Reduced queues and faster travel, enhancing convenience and security.
  • Special benefit for OCI cardholders, ensuring smooth entry and exit.

Travellers register online, submit documents, and complete biometric enrolment at FRROs or airports. Officials recommend linking registration with passport or OCI issuance for ease.

With international passenger traffic rising sharply—Indians travelling abroad up 73% (2014–2024)—FTI-TTP is a crucial step in modernising airport infrastructure. It mirrors global best practices like the US Global Entry Programme, tailored for India’s growing role as a global travel hub.
