Heat wave in Telangana

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heat wave warning for Telangana until Sunday. Raising concerns for citizens especially infants, and elderly, the weather department has advised the public to take precautions to avoid heat exposure during this period.

In light of the warning, IMD recommended several measures to reduce the impact of the heat wave. Along with wearing lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting cotton clothing, they asked people to cover their heads with a cloth, hat, or an umbrella, and also avoid direct sunlight as much as possible.

While a heat wave is expected over the weekend, the IMD’s forecast indicates a change in weather patterns with thunder and lightning predicted for April 22 and 23.

In Hyderabad, a mixed bag of weather conditions is anticipated. Rainfall or thundershowers are expected in the afternoons and evenings until April 23.

The IMD forecasts minimum temperatures ranging from 25 degrees Celsius to 28 degrees Celsius and maximum temperatures between 37 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius during this period.

On Wednesday, several regions in Hyderabad experienced the season’s highest of 42.3 degree Celsius, while several districts in Telangana experienced the hottest day of the year at 44.8 degree Celsius.

However, the maximum temperatures of 42 degree Celsius in Hyderabad peaked at around 2 pm on Wednesday, making way for sporadic showers.

Meanwhile, according to the India Meteorological Department-Hyderabad (IMD-H), in terms of rain, March was the driest in recent years.
