Highest water supply this year 

Hyderabad: A total of 580 million gallons per day (MGD) water was supplied to Hyderabad city this summer, the highest so far. Water Board MD Sudarshan Reddy who inspected the emergency pumping at Nagarjuna Sagar on Thursday revealed that this year 20 MGD more water was supplied when compared to last year.

“The pumping process is underway without any issues. If required, a second stage of pumping will also be initiated and arrangements will be made to supply water through pumps,” he added, in a press statement.

The MD also visited the Sunkishala project and inspected the pipeline construction. While the civil work is underway, the tunnels and electric work have reached the final stage. He directed the authorities to complete the project quickly and make it available by this September.

They also had conducted a one-day training program for several city dwellers and plumbers on the rainwater harvesting pits. The training program was held at Rain Water Harvesting Theme Park in Jubilee Hills on Thursday.

It is known that they gave training for 3 days last month on the construction of boreholes. However, for those who could attend then, its being given today.

30 of them were trained today. Satyanarayana, Special Officer of Inkdu Guntala, said that we are giving training under the auspices of Jalamandali, GHMC, HMDA and CDMA. It is said that the representatives of various voluntary organizations have been trained in the last month and they are already conducting awareness programs in many areas.

He said that the structure, importance and value of the pits were explained to them through a power point presentation. All the plumbers have promised that when they go to work in the future, if there is no hole there, they will do the work only after being told about it first.
