The AI-enabled Rural Internal Audit Portal was launched on 28 June 2026 during the Rashtriya Gramin Vikas Sammelan at the Pusa Campus, New Delhi. Developed by the Ministry of Rural Development in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), the portal is a first-of-its-kind unified digital platform designed to modernize internal audits of rural development programmes.
The portal digitizes the entire audit lifecycle, covering audit planning, execution, reporting, compliance monitoring, analytics, action taken reports, and record management. By replacing paper-based and fragmented audit systems, it improves transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the implementation of rural development schemes. It also supports both risk-based and compliance audits, enabling more effective oversight.
A key feature of the platform is the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning, and advanced analytics to assess risks, prioritize audits, and support data-driven decision-making. First piloted in Chandauli district, Uttar Pradesh, in April 2025, the portal became fully operational in October 2025 and represents a significant step toward strengthening digital governance and financial accountability in India’s rural development sector.
