Arvind Alishetty, a well-known BRS party member and active social media personality, was recently taken into custody by Hyderabad police. He is accused of duping businessman Bollineni Dhanush Srinivas out of Rs 4 crore, under the pretense of securing a government contract linked to the mid-day meal scheme.
The arrest followed an investigation into Alishetty’s actions, where he reportedly gave Srinivas fake government documents claiming to award him the contract. Joint Commissioner of Police A.V. Ranganath confirmed that these documents were counterfeit after verification with the Department of School Education.
Alishetty, who is familiar for his associations with BRS leaders KTR and K. Kavitha, had previously made headlines for his stunts on social media, including blocking the Durgam Cheruvu Cable bridge for a video shoot. He presented himself as a youth representative and ardent follower of BRS leadership on his social platforms.
The case came to light after Srinivas, who was introduced to Alishetty by his brother, grew suspicious of the prolonged delay and non-materialization of the contract. Upon discovering the falsity of the documents, Srinivas approached the police, leading to Alishetty’s arrest.
This case has highlighted issues surrounding the misuse of political connections and fraudulent activities in government contract dealings.
