The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has appointed Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone as India’s first-ever Mental Health Ambassador, recognizing her decade-long advocacy for mental wellness and awareness through The Live Love Laugh Foundation (LLL).
The appointment aims to strengthen the government’s national mental health initiatives, especially among youth and working professionals. Deepika will collaborate with the Ministry to promote awareness campaigns, encourage early intervention, and destigmatize mental health discussions across the country.
Launched in 2015, the Live Love Laugh Foundation has been instrumental in addressing mental health challenges, supporting research, and providing resources for individuals dealing with stress, anxiety, and depression.
Officials stated that this partnership will help bridge the gap between policy and public engagement, aligning with India’s goal of building a more empathetic and inclusive mental health ecosystem.
