Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar Welcomed by Deccan Manav Seva Samiti at Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple

Governor and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar Offer Prayers at Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple

Secunderabad, July 11, 2025:

Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and his wife, Sudha Dev Varma, visited the historic Sri Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad on Friday morning as part of the ongoing Ashada Bonalu celebrations.

The members of the Deccan Manav Seva Samiti (DMSS) warmly welcomed Hon’ble Governor Jishnu Dev Varma and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar upon their arrival at the temple premises. DMSS Vice Presidents Shashank Pasupuleti, Seelam Anurag, Haribabu, T. Vasundar,  G.Mallikarjun and Vinod personally greeted the dignitaries and extended their felicitations.

Accompanied by the Minister, the Governor and his spouse offered the traditional bonam, a sacred offering prepared with rice, jaggery, and curd, and presented silk garments to the presiding deity, seeking blessings for the well-being and prosperity of the state.

Temple priests performed special rituals and explained the rich history and spiritual significance of the centuries-old shrine, which attracts thousands of devotees every year during the Bonalu festival.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar noted that Bonalu festivities had commenced last month across Telangana, and the main celebrations at the Ujjaini Mahankali Temple would be held on July 13 and 14, when Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is also expected to participate.

The visit was conducted under tight security arrangements, with the presence of senior officials including the Hyderabad District Collector, representatives of the Endowments Department, and local corporator Chera Suchitra Srikanth.

Governor Varma expressed his appreciation for the temple’s cultural heritage and emphasized the importance of preserving traditional practices that strengthen social harmony and devotion among the people.

Authorities have made comprehensive preparations to ensure smooth darshan and the safe conduct of the main Bonalu festivities in the coming days.
