Grand Tribute to Prajakavi Kaloji with Bathukantha Deshanidi Play

“Born as yours, die as yours, but life is for the nation” – the famous words of Prajakavi Kaloji, who lived and breathed the Telangana movement, echoed through the state as the 110th birth anniversary of the revolutionary poet was celebrated on Monday. As part of the Telangana Language Day celebrations, grand events were organized across the state under the auspices of the Department of Telangana Language and Culture.

The main event took place at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad, where Minister Jupally Krishna Rao attended as the chief guest, paying tribute to Kaloji’s invaluable contributions.

A highlight of the event was the play *Bathukantha Deshanidi* performed by the Telangana Ethnic Theatre Arts Society (TETAS) team. Directed by G. Shivaram Reddy, the play captivated the audience from start to finish. Centering on key moments from Kaloji’s life, the play received high praise for its unique presentation. The actors’ expressions, the dialogues in Telangana dialect, and the gripping music and lighting created a stunning experience.

Shivaram Reddy’s extraordinary portrayal of Kaloji left the audience in awe, earning him a well-deserved standing ovation. A multi-talented director, actor, and trainer, Shivaram Reddy has proven his artistic prowess across various platforms, from short films and documentaries to folk songs. His exceptional talent has not only been recognized with numerous awards but also demonstrated in a range of languages—Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English. His brilliance knows no bounds, and his contributions to the world of theatre and film are nothing short of remarkable.

Special guests including Director of the Telangana Language and Culture Department Mamidi Harikrishna applauded the theatrical team and urged the younger generation to take an interest in stage plays. Renowned artist Mime Madhu, Director Ajith Nag, stage play director Mohan Senapathi, Mechineni Srinivasa Rao, Ustad Oggu Ravi, Dr. Khaja Pasha, Dream Costume Kiran, and makeup artist Malladi Gopala Krishna also praised the TETAS team for their outstanding performance.

The actors involved in the TETAS Team expressed their joy in performing on such a prestigious platform. They also expressed their gratitude to the Telangana government for this wonderful opportunity.
