Guru Nanak Jayanti will be celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion across India. The festival began with nothing two days ago with 48 hours of continuous recitation of Guru Granth Sahib. Colorful processions were led by five men carrying the triangular Sikh flag, Prabhat Feris carried the Guru Granth Sahib in a palanquin in the morning in elaborate processions, groups sang religious songs and played traditional musical instruments War games added a dynamic element these celebrations.
The langar, the community kitchen, is central, providing food for all in need, symbolizing equality and welcoming of all while the Guru’s guests Service or community service is active, including providing food and shelter to the poor. The delicious traditional kada prasad is generously distributed during the festival
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti through his radio program Manaki Baat and Twitter, emphasizing Guru Nanak’s teachings on serving others and fostering brotherhood. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended the Prakash Parva celebrations at Ashiana Gurudwara in Lucknow.
