Hyderabad: Upholding the spirit of justice with compassion and a strong sense of social responsibility, A. Sridevi, Senior Civil Judge, has assumed charge as the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Sessions Division, Hyderabad.
Sridevi, who previously served as a Senior Civil Judge at Nagarkurnool, took charge at her chamber in the Nampally Criminal Courts complex following her transfer to Hyderabad. Soon after assuming office, DLSA staff and members of the Mediation Committee met her and extended their warm wishes, felicitating her with a bouquet and shawl.
In her interaction with the DLSA Mediation Committee members K. Vinod Kumar, T. Srinivasa Sharma, Naseem Banu and B. Vijayalatha, Sridevi highlighted the larger social purpose behind the Legal Services Authority — ensuring that justice remains accessible not only to those who can afford it, but also to the poor, backward and weaker sections of society.
She said that providing free legal assistance to deserving people and creating greater awareness about their legal rights would be among the important priorities of the DLSA. Her emphasis on taking legal services closer to the people reflects a people-centric approach to the delivery of justice.
Sridevi also underlined the significance of mediation and Lok Adalats in resolving disputes in an amicable manner. According to her, mediation gives both parties an opportunity to arrive at a mutually acceptable settlement in a peaceful environment, while saving valuable time, money and emotional hardship involved in prolonged litigation.
She appealed to the public to make full use of the legal aid, mediation and Lok Adalat facilities available through the Legal Services Authority.
With her approach combining judicial responsibility with empathy and public service, A. Sridevi has set out to strengthen the role of DLSA as a bridge between the justice system and the common citizen, particularly those who need legal assistance the most.
