Hyderabad: Inspecting multiple reservoirs being built under Package-I of ORR Project Phase – II, MD Sudarshan Reddy instructed the Water Board officials to complete the construction as soon as possible. The reservoirs are expected to be made available by June. These reservoirs will supply drinking water to the villages, colonies, and gated communities within the Outer Ring Road limits.
Of the 33 reservoirs in this package, 22 have already been completed. Construction of the remaining 11 reservoirs is 90 per cent complete. Moreover, a new pipeline of 1522.27 km is also being laid.
Efforts are being scaled up to build new reservoirs and pipelines, so that the water problem can be mitigated in the upcoming summers in the city.
HMWS&SB ORR project Details:
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) ORR project is a 1,200 crore rupee project that aims to provide drinking water to the municipalities, corporations, gram panchayats, gated communities, and colonies within the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The project is being carried out in two packages, with Package-1 costing 613 crore rupees and Package-2 costing 587 crore rupees.
The ORR Phase – 2 project undertaken at a total cost of Rs.1200 crores for construction of , 73 new service reservoirs (capacity of 138 million liters) and a new pipeline network of 2988 kilometers are being constructed. If this project is completed a total of 3.6 lakh families and 25 lakh population will be benefitted.
